NEW FOR EYELASH & BROW GROWTH
New York dermatologist Dr. Patricia Wexler appeared on The TODAY Show recently to discuss at-home anti-aging treatments. Dr. Wexler featured a variety of aesthetic products, including LATISSE, which she featured as the only FDA-approved product to increase the length and thickness of eyelashes. Dr. Wexler said it is "the most exciting thing out." Host Kathie Lee Gifford asks if it works even for people who have plucked out all their eyelashes, in which Dr. Wexler explains that it would work if they still had hair follicles. Dr. Wexler notes the cost of LATISSE is around $120, and the LATISSE packaging is shown on screen as well as a super noting the LATISSE.com web site. At the end of the segment, Dr. Wexler also mentions over-the-counter eyelash growth products, including a visual product display of Revitalash, but Dr. Wexler notes that they are more expensive and does not go into detail on them. The segment can be viewed by clicking here.
As expected and as a result of outreach, USA Today has posted an article online about LATISSE titled, “Chance side effect creates thick eyelashes, market for LATISSE.” The article, which we anticipate will also run in tomorrow’s print edition and is very positive in tone, positions LATISSE as an example of another aesthetic product developed from a therapeutic treatment. Both David Pyott and Dr. Richard Glogau are included in the article with respect to the consumer demand and market potential for LATISSE. David is quoted as saying he “expects LATISSE to ultimately equal the cosmetic use of Botox” and that "Latisse can benefit anyone.”
The article highlights the experience of Washington D.C. patient Liz Weber who is quoted as saying, "Forget about fake lashes, they end up on your cheeks….This is my favorite stuff ever." While the article notes that both LUMIGAN and LATISSE include a warning about a possible change in pigmentation of the eyelid and darkening of the iris, dermatologist Marilyn Berzin is attributed as saying that she “believes LATISSE is safe and is not likely to alter the iris color because it's not applied directly to the eyes.” Dr. Andrew Iwach is also quoted in the article for the American Academy of Ophthalmology and cautions people with eye inflammation, glaucoma or macular edema to see an eye doctor before starting LATISSE.
